A very good original car.
Here we have a very charming old Mk1 Capri 1.3 L, which has been in the same family since new. It’s had 3 previous owners altogether and been very much loved. It’s completely solid and original underneath and a real survivor car. We have the V5 and 2 sets of keys. There are some old MOTs with it and bills for work done. It had a fairly extensive recommission back in 2018 and has been used for a few shows since before being garaged. It’s only covered 48000 miles from new. The car was bought new in 1973 from Pontings of Andover by Mr Leslie McIlroy for just under £1000. It was ordered in Marine Blue with Marquis interior. Leslie kept it for two years until he started a family and discovered the Capri was not very pram friendly. He was initially going to trade it in but his cousin Cyril stepped in and made an offer for the car in 1975. He used it until around 1994 when it was barn stored until 2011. At that point it was recommissioned and repainted by a garage in Thetford. When Cyril sadly passed away in 2018 the car was passed to his daughter, who had learned to drive in it. A further recommission was then done in 2018. It’s done a few shows since, won a couple of awards and appeared in the Capri Club 2013 calendar.
Bodywork.
A very solid and original car. Never been welded underneath and still in very good order. All original panels as far as we can see. Car was repainted in its original Marine blue in about 2012, but is showing its age a little. It’s perfectly useable and looks good, but on closer inspection there are a few marks. There is a crack on the paint on the roof at the front. Overall though, a very charming original car.

Mechanics.
The car starts, runs and drives very well. It ticks over, pulls through the gears with no flatspots and in all honestly runs better than some stuff we have had at twice or three times the price. The gearbox and clutch are fine. Brakes do stop you and the pedal is a little long, but we will try giving them a bleed. The car was very smooth on test drive and great for its age. It’s only done 48000 miles and only 500 miles in last 30 years.

Interior.
Original doorcards in good order. Seats were retrimmed in 2012 and are still lovely. Good original headlining. Carpet is good. The is a crack on the dash top.

Wheels.
Original steels and hubcaps. Tyres are in really good order.
Our thoughts.
This is a great survivor car with a good history. You are welcome to come and see the car and we have a ramp so you can look underneath. Delivery can be arranged if required. Please ask for a delivery quote or contact us with any questions. Thanks for looking.
