For sale on behalf of a customer 1989 Volkswagen T3 Synchro. This is a RHD import from South Africa with all tax and duty paid. The NOVA has been done and we will help the new owner with all the UK registration paperwork. The van will need MOTd first before it can be registered. This van starts runs and drives and was in regular use prior to being imported. Its being fitted with a Toyota 4Y petrol engine but still runs its original drivetrain with 4WD. This was quite a common conversion in South Africa we are told.  

 

Body - VW T3 Synchro. Absolutely rock solid from front to back. No rust as it came from a hot dry climate. There are a few marks and scrapes on the paintwork as you would expect of a vehicle this age. Perfectly useable as it is but you may want to do a bit paintwork here and there to improve the appearance.

 

Mechanics - Van starts and runs and we drove it to here ourselves. The engine sounds good and runs well. The clutch and brakes feel fine. If you rush it into second gear theres a bit of a graunch but if your smooth it doesnt happen. The engine conversion was done in South Africa. Its fully functional but there are a few bits under the engine bay that could be a bit tidier. Tailgate lock is a bit sticky and sometimes difficult to open. That will need looked at.

 

Interior - Fairtly tidy interior. Good front seats , door cards. Has an original bench rear seat and a couple of diy type cupboards in the back. Lots of scope to do something with it.

 

Wheels - Aftermarket alloys with 235/ 75/15 BF Goodrich off road style tyres

 

These synchro buses are rare and this one is solid. Its had an engine conversion but that can be reversed. Please feel free to come and see the van. We have a ramp so you can inspect underneath. Delivery can be arranged if required. Please ask for a quote.
