1981 Ford Escort 1600 Sport. RHD Import from South Africa. All tax and import duty has been paid. We will assist the new owner with the UK registration. This car starts runs and drives but will need restored.

Body - Mk2 Escort export spec strengthened shell with similar strengthening to our RS models at the front. Good Inner wings, strut tops, rear arches. Chassis rails are solid but a bit dented from jacking it up badly. Has had previous repairs to front floors, inner sills, boot wells. These would all need redone to make it decent. Also been painted underneath with some horrendous shiny paint. Paint is not its original colour. Would be useable with a flatten and a polish but if you want a show car then budget for a paint job.

Mechanics - Original 1600 crossflow engine which starts and runs OK. Exhaust is blowing. 4 speed gearbox and standard running gear, which will all needing checking and either refurbing or replacing. Carb will need adjustment or replaced due to the different climate.The car does start and drive but it is a restoration project

Interior - Pretty hideous inside but it is its originals seats swhich could be retrimmed again.

Wheels - Aftermarket wheels which are too big.

This car is a restoration project but not a bad starting point. I have had a few people recently who look at pictures and convince themselves that they will get something like this on the road for £500 , and then moan as it needs more than they thought. You wont!. You need to come and see it and check it over for yourself.
