1980 Ford Escort Mk2 1600 Sport. RHD import from South Africa with all tax and duty paid. This car starts and runs but will need fully restored. It is now fully Uk registered and we have the V5 here.

 

Body - Export spec 1600 Sport shell with extra strengthening similar to our RS models. Good inner wings and strut tops. Had a repair where slam panel meets inner wing on drivers side. Good sills, arches, Both boot wells and front floors have previously been repaired. Will need these repaired as they are a bit rough. Ideally would benefit from inner sills, and a full front floor. Lower bulkhead / tunnel are looks like its been beaten about a bit, no doubt for a different gearbox at some stage. Passenger doorstep needs attention and doorpost on that side looks to have had a bit attention in the past and will require further poking and prodding. Centre rails look OK. Paintwork looks Ok in the pics but in reality its not great. it would need redone to a better standard. Glass sunroof fitted

Mechanics - 1600 crossflow . Car starts and runs. Engine sounds decent. Standard 4 speed box. Clutch feels Ok. Brakes are poor. Everything else looks standard. Car will need going through front front to back as part of restoration process 

 

Interior - Original sport seats which are quite worn. Door cards are original with no speaker holes but a bit worn. Dashtop has been recovered and not done great. .Headlining is OK. Original steering wheel which looks like a rabid Alsation has been biting chunks out of it. 

 

Wheels - Standard deep dish wheels with OK tyres 

 

Needs a full restoration but its not a basket case. Please feel free to come and see the car. We have a ramp so you can look underneath. Delivery can be arranged if required. please ask for a quote
