1980 Ford Escort Mk2 1600 Sport. RHD import from South Africa with all tax and duty paid. This car starts runs and drives but it will need restored to a much better standard. We will complete all the UK registration paperwork for the new owner. Its fitted with a 2.0 Pinto with a 5 speed type 9 gearbox.

 

Body - Export spec 1600 Sport shell with extra strengthening similar to our RS models. Good original inner wings, strut tops, Underbonnet area is generally good  Strut tops have been sanded back to check numbers prior to export to check the numbers. Both boot wells will need repaired. Front outer floors will need minor repairs in the corners. One rear chassis rail will need a small repair next to the spring hangar. Paintwork is poor. Overall its not the worst shell and not been previously botched up underneath.  

 

Mechanics - 2.0 Pinto fitted with DIY sump and 5 speed type 9 box. Gearbox mount is also a bit home made. Car starts runs and drives. Engine is not smoky but a bit noisy from the cam shaft. Possibly a worn follower. Gearbox and clutch seem ok but the car will need a full mechanical checkover as its a bit cobbled together.

 

Interior - Original sport seats which have been retrimmed and are perfectly useable but far from beautiful. Door cards are scruffy. Dash top is cracked, headlining is original and good. Sport steering wheel. 

 

Wheels - Standard deep dish wheels which could do with a refurb.
