Ford Cortina MK1 1500 Estate, Extremely Solid and very original example which has just been MOTd for a year. Car has spent most of its life in a hot dry climate but is now fully UK registered. A small fortune has just been spent on this mechanically.

 

Body - Export spec shell with extra strengthening between strut tops and bulk head. Original strut tops, inner wings, sills, wings arches, chassis legs. Very very solid and original car. Couple of dents underneath from either rough roads or jacking in the wrong place but super solid and original in terms of the body. Paintwork is perfectly useable but is no show pony. In the main pretty straight and clean. 

 

Mechanics - New 1500 short motor, engine rebuilt with all new gaskets, painted rocker cover,  new fuel pump, clutch, slave cylinder, Speedo cable, wheel nuts, steering arms, front anti roll bar bushes, Speedo drive seal, gearbox tail shaft seal, handbrake cable, number plate plate lamp, choke cable, rear leaf spring shackle bushes, fuel line, fuel tank filler neck pipe. Second hand fuel sender, second hand windscreen with new rubber and trim, replaced fuel cap, new wheel nuts. Tracking also done. Carb cleaned. All new gaskets, plugs etc. Runs and drives quite well for a 55 year old. As previously mentioned just been MOTD for a year and is not hiding under the mot exempt banner.

 

Interior - Original back seats, door cards and headlining. Front seats have been retrimmed at some point and are a bit of a different shade. Carpet is a bit worn and scruffy. Wood rim steering wheel. 

 

Wheels - Rostyles which are more common on MK2 Cortinas with 175 70 13 tyres.

 

Overall a very solid original old car which is decent mechanically also.There is a bit room for improvement on the wheels and interior departments but great solid car .
