Ford Escort 1600 Sport. This car was imported 6 years ago when nice ones were readily available. Its fully UK registered and comes MOTd till October 2022. We have the UK V5 here which states 1600 Sport. The last owner has spent fortunes on the car over the last 6 years. Almost everything has either been rebuilt, replaced or refurbished. Its ready to drive away

 

Body - South African Sport shell with extra strengthening similar to our RS models. Good solid shell , which as mentioned is currently MOTD. Has has reapirs on front floors and boot wells in the past. The car is solid underneath and needs nothing doing. The paintwork is nice and tidy with only a couple of very minor marks. Its not a concourse show winner but at the same time very tidy. It gas the African style sport stripes which dont go round the wheel arches. Top tint windscreen. UK tank fitted.

 

Mechanics - Engine was fully rebuilt 500 miles ago by ex Ford Dealership Mechanic. New Rings, Bearings, Shells, new oil pump, new starter motor, alloy radiator, new clutch kit, electronic ignition, new timing chain and all gaskets. New half shaft bearings, new rear shocks, strut inserts replaced, roller bearing top mounts, every suspension bush and rubber replaced, All brake lines replaced, new rear cylinders and shoes, new flexis, new drilled and grooved front discs, new pads, new Track Control Arms and Track Rod ends. 4 Branch Manifold and 2 Inch Exhaust system.

Car starts runs and drives very well and way better than most 40 year old escorts . Little bit of a flat spot when cold but fine when warm. Manual choke fitted. Rev counter recalibrated to suit electronic ignition.

 

Interior - RS Turbo Recaro front seats. Good door cards and dash top but not originals. Changed to UK spec seatbelts. New parcel shelf and C Pillar trims, Good headlining and carpet. RS style pod fitted with oil pressure guage in place of clock. 

 

Wheels - New 6" Minilte style alloys with new 175/70/13 Tyres

 

As mentioned the previous owner has went right through the car and spent a small fortune on it. He has covered about 484 miles since doing all the work so everything is like new still.
