1980 Ford Escort Mk2 1600 Sport. RHD import from South Africa with all tax and duty paid. This one looks ok but the reality is it will need a bit work to get it up to scratch. We will complete all the UK registration paperwork for the new owner

 

Body - Export spec 1600 Sport shell with extra strengthening similar to our RS models. Good original inner wings, strut tops, Underbonnet area is generally good apart from bulkhead lip has been trimmed back a bit. Strut tops have been sanded back to check numbers prior to export to check the numbers. Original wings still on the car. Both boot wells have been previously repaired. Front floors look like they have previously been repaired. These would all need redoing to a better standard in my opinion. Drivers footwell needs a repair as been plated badly. Paintwork is ok in the main and perfectly useable. If you want a useable one then fine but if you want show car you would need to paint it again. Scuttle panel is a different shade of red. Few marks here and there but no major damage 

 

Mechanics - Good original 1600 crossflow with original 4 speed box. Starts runs and drives. All standard running gear. Car starts runs and drives but will need a good check over before using. Carb may need adjusted due to the different climate. Gearbox has a leak from rear seal 

 

Interior - Original sport seats which are not mint but perfectly useable. Door cards are ok but have speaker holes in them. Dash top is cracked, headlining is original and good and carpet is ok. Sport steering wheel. 

 

Wheels - Standard deep dish wheels which could do with a refurb Not a bad looking car but does require work as stated above to bring it up to scratch.
