Ford Cortina MK3 1.6 Pickup or Bakkie as they are known in South Africa. Genuine ford built truck which was brought in from South Africa a few years ago and is now fully UK registered.This pickup is tax and mot exempt. Its a solid old truck with really good floors and chassis but cosmetically a bit scruffy. Great basis for a project. starts runs and drives and we have the current UK V5 here.
Body - Genuine Ford built pickup. These were introduced in South Africa on the MK3 Cortina long before the UK got the MK5 P100. The MK3 has a longer cab than the MK5 and is not as cramped. The shell has good solid floors, chasais, inner wings and load bed. Doors and bonnet are also good. Looks like someone has put a pair of oversills on it at some point and welds will need tidied up. Paint is very scruffy as this was a workhorse in South Africa. Truck will need a cosmetic restoration. Most outer panels are decent but previous repair on top of passenger wing will need sorting.
Mechanics - 1.6 Crossflow and 4 speed box. Truck starts and runs and drives. Will need choke mechanism connecting as not required in South Africa. Will need a good service and mechanical check over. Looks to have had new rear spring bushes on it. Good brakes and cliutch.
Interior - Original but scruffy and will all need retrimmed / replaced.
Wheels - standard steels
These trucks are very rare over here with maybe only a dozen or so in the UK. This is a good solid starting point for a project. Please feel free to come and see the truck. we have a ramp so you can look underneath. Delivery can be arranged if required. Please ask for a quote.
